Products description

Carl Barks completed the oil painting Merry Christmas! in December 1995. In 1996, Edition 313 reproduced the first copies true to the original as a continuous, eight-color lithograph.

It was printed on acid free, pure cotton fibre paper sized 14" x 18" at the collotype printing works of Lucas in Stuttgart (Germany). As an additional protection a UV-resistant varnish has been applied to the print's surface. This guarantees resistance aging, fading or yellowing for centuries if stored under normal conditions.

Carl Barks hand signed all the lithographs issued by Edition 313. These are strictly limited and neither Dreidreizehn nor any other printing houses will be able to publish them as Carl Barks's hand signed lithographs. Immediately after the completion of the print run, all printing plates were destroyed.

Carl Barks signed the lithographs Merry Christmas! at Grants Pass, OR (USA) in April 1996. The print run consists of only 500 copies for world-wide distribution. In addition, 30 artist's proof copies (AP) held by Carl Barks and 20 publisher's proof copies (PP) held by the publishing house were printed. Adjunctive to Carl Barks's pencilled signature and the individual numbering, all lithographs are specifically marked with two stamped embossings; the image area is surrounded by a 1/4" band and at the left hand bottom corner the logo of Edition 313.

Merry Christmas! is the second lithograph issued summer 1996 by Detlef Giesler & Klaus Bohn, publishing house Dreidreizehn, Lüneburg (Germany).
