Products description
Guernica is one of the most famous works by Spanish artist Pablo Picasso, painted in 1937 in response to German bombings in the Basque town of Guernica during the Spanish Civil War.
The original painting is in black and white, which creates a sombre and sad atmosphere. Picasso also used angled lines and shapes to create a sense of chaos and fear. The work presents a series of symbolic images, such as an injured horse, an angry bull, a mother with her dead son in her arms and a figure with her arms outstretched in a gesture of pain. Each of these elements represents the cruelty of war and violence.
