Products description
Pinocchio in the car, promoting the Travelling Theatre.
Rotating wheels. Matchbox Superfast Disney Series № 7th Lesney, 1979.
The newly launched Hot-Wheels models from Mattel, which were significantly faster than the conventional Regular Wheels with their thin lightweight wheels, necessitated a rethink at Matchbox from 1968/1969. The Regular Wheels era therefore came to an end that year with the Regular Wheels model 75B Ferrari Berlinetta. As an answer to the Hot-Wheels cars, Matchbox brought the first Superfast models onto the market from 1969, which were able to compete with the models from the Mattel concern thanks to likewise very thin wheels and the fast freewheel (hence the name Superfast).
The Lesney company went bankrupt in 1982, but Matchbox miniatures with the name "Lesney" were still being produced until 1986.
