Products description

»The posters selected for this calendar were originally created for the French Disney magazine PICSOU. This must be explained for several reasons: First, because the theme of a depicted scene might sometimes seem odd, unless you know that it was designed to fit the overall theme chosen by the PICSOU editor for that particular issue. Secondly, and more importantly, I cannot take credit for the excellent coloring of the artwork.

My graphics were, as I always do, simple line drawings. It was the PICSOU colorist who computer-colored these scenes so wonderfully that they now look almost like paintings! It would be great if I could take general credit for this great coloring, but I really can't!

Editors at Egmont asked me to write short accompanying texts for each of these twelve posters.

And I also give clues as to where to find the hidden dedications that I always include in my drawings. For those who don't know what I'm referring to: I have always hidden the initials "D.U.C.K." in my works ... that stands for "Dedicated to Unca Carl from Keno"("Dedicated by Keno to Uncle Carl"). I'm sure you know who Uncle Carl (Barks) is (and if you don't, shame on you!) and why I have to dedicate all my Duck works to him. And "Keno" is my real first name, while Don is my middle name, which I've always used in all my work. Thank you! We hope you like these pictures. They may not be the kind of classic pin-ups Dad used to hide from Mom, but anything with the Ducks on it can't really be bad «
